ATMA Kiphire trains farmers on cultivation, gardening

ATMA Kiphire block conducted a training session on mushroom cultivation under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan in Kiphire village on June 12. 
The chairperson was Kekosenuo solo, BTM, Kiphire block. The program started with a brief sensitization on KKA by Phrumesie, SDAO, Kiphire after which the resource person, Sitseba, BTT convenor gave a training on mushroom cultivation. He emphasized on the importance of sterilizing straw before the application process and also explained the method of application of the mushroom spawns and the process of harvesting it. He also gave them a briefing on fast income generation and how mushrooms could increase their social and economic life styles and help them earn more.
A total of 17 (male 10, 7 female) attended the program. Vote of thanks was delivered by one of the farmers.
ATMA Kiphire block also conducted a “nutritional garden” training program on June 16 with Kekosenuo Solo as the resource person.
A press release from DAO Kiphire stated that the resource person spoke about the role of kitchen gardening for improving the economy of the household by making additional income. She said that it also utilizes the wastes from the kitchen to fertilize the soil and also serves as a form of nutrient supplement for the kitchen garden.
The program was chaired by Mhabemo Patton, ATM Kiphire block. Radish and yard long beans were also distributed during the training. A total of 30 persons attended the training.
