ATMA Mangkolemba block training on intercropping

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mangkolemba block, conducted training on management practices of tea and arecanut intercropping followed by demonstration programme on spraying of biofertilizer on tea at Khar village under Mokokchund district on October 3.

A press release by ATMA Mangkolemba block, stated that resource person, ATM, Alemnungla, trained the farmers on management practices of arecanut and tea. Importance of shade tree in tea cultivation was explained to the farmers, while timely pruning of tea shrubs, planting method, management of nursery, timely application of biofertilizer, using arecanut shade, leaves as mulch for the tea shrub and also as comfort were trained to the farmers.

Demonstration on application of biofertilizer on tea plantation was demonstrated. On field, farmers were taught how to mix correct ratio of biofertilizer and water and with the help of knapsack sprayer. Altogether 17 farmers attended the programme.
