Attestation parade held at ARTCS

 A total of 223 recruits including 59 mahila recruits were inducted into the Assam Rifles at an attestation parade held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTCS), Sukhovi on July 4. The parade was witnessed by a large audience including parents of the recruits and was reviewed by commandant, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Brig. Gurjap Singh. Addressing the recruits, Brig. Gurjap Singh highlighted the antecedents of the Assam Rifles as being the oldest Para Military Force of the country and the diversified role it plays in the present day environment, ranging from security to providing welfare and developmental assistance to the civil population. Brig. Singh stated that the North East was a strategic area and its security was of paramount importance. He also complimented commanding officers of training battalions and instructors for imparting value based training to the recruits for their futures as trained soldiers of the nation. Recruits who passed the training were also presented with awards for their outstanding performances during the training. Rfn. Twinkle Chakma was awarded the medal for being the Best All Round Recruit. Rfn. Roshan Dhurve, Rfn. Dimple Rana, Rfn. Vikash Kumar and Rfn. M. Sunila Devi were awarded the medals for being the best in Firing. Rfn. Shashi Kumar, Rfn. D. M Hokip, Rfn. T. H Valte and Rfn. Emica Marry Pasi were awarded the medals for being the best in Drill. Rfn. Aanand Kumar, Rfn. Vijay, Rfn. Kartik R, and Rfn. Sarojini Lakra were awarded the medal for being the best in Physical Training.
