AWUL, PBC celebrate anniversaries

Agri Ward Union Longleng (AWUL) and Pfutseromi Baptist Church (PBC) celebrated its silver and platinum anniversaries on December 17 and 16 at Longleng and Pfutseromi village respectively.

AWUL: Phom People’s Council (PPC) president M. Shami Angh, former MLA, called upon the leaders and general public of Agri Ward Longleng to inculcate the culture of working hand in hand and to have positive mindset rather than criticizing another.
Shami Angh as special guest said this during the 25th anniversary of Agri Ward Union Longleng (AWUL) celebrated under the theme, “Strive for progress” at the premises of Water Resources office, Longleng, Thursday. Shami said that to develop and cater all round achievement, there was need for peace, unity and cooperation among the people of the ward.
While lauding the pioneers and present leaders for their strive in making the ward to reach thus far, he asserted that celebrating twenty-five years speaks volume of its commitment and dedication by the pioneers and present leaders.  Their efforts have produced a number of government officers and intellectual among the 11 wards in Longleng town, he added. He also congratulated the ward for successfully implementing number of activities without support from the government.  Recalling the unexpected revival in his life four decades ago at this place, the special guest thanked Almighty God for what he was today and to be a part of the celebration.
He further encouraged the gathering to have wider sense of responsibility and hope for more changes and advancement in future too. Dwelling on jubilee as a time of thanksgiving, the special guest also added that it was a moment to retrospect past activities and to prepare vision of more success and achievement. Shami also released the silver jubilee souvenir. 
Others who spoke included, C. Hamyung Phom, first president of the ward, L. Chingai Phom, jubilee treasurer, S. Namnyei Phom, chairman Orangkong Village Council and Er. B. Shahkup Phom, Highway. 
Earlier, programme was chaired by M. Phomla and N. Lipom Phom, scripture reading & prayer by S. Ayong Phom pastor Leinak Ward Baptist Church, obituary reference led by K. Nyamla associate pastor LTBC and special presentation by Agri Ward youth. Welcome address was delivered by A. Angai Phom, president Agri Ward, special song by M. Chumei Phom & Co, special prayer for Agri Ward by pastors of Ao Baptist Church, Lotha Baptist Church, Konyak Baptist Church and Gorkha Baptist Church Longleng, while vote of thanks was delivered by convenor jubilee planning committee. PBC: Pfutseromi Baptist Church (PBC) celebrated 75th anniversary (1945-2020) with the theme “Christ the Liberator” at Pfutseromi village on December 16. 
A press release by the organisers stated that, Rev. Dr. V. K. Nuh, emeritus executive secretary, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) was the minister for unveiling the 75th anniversary monolith and Rev. Khrotso Mero, executive secretary, CBCC was the speaker at the celebration.
Speaker in his message emphasised on the liberating Christ and said that Christians must imitate Christ and live by His precepts of love and forgiveness. He also said that one must act now because Christ has done so much for “us”. Song was presented by Kami Baptist Church, Pfutsero Town Baptist Church and Pfutseromi Baptist Church CYE choirs. The 75th anniversary souvenir was released by Rev. Dr. Kenny Kapfo. 
Earlier, programme was led by Rev. Dr. Coppe Mero, welcome address by Rev. Dr. Wepre Mero and benediction by CBCC president, Rev. Kevengoi Sakha.
