Concerned citizens of Ahthibung under the initiative of the Ahthibung Youth and students union (AYSU) has appealed for immediate solution and peaceful settlement in regard to Ahthibung adhoc-Town Committee (ATC).

A press release from AYSU chairman Jangkhopao Thomson stated that, as per memorandum submitted to the SDO (C) Ahthibung, Ruopfukuotou Noudi on August 23, 2019 by the concerned citizens of Ahthibung under the initiative of the Ahthibung Youth and students union (AYSU) it has been clearly mentioned that the concerned authority within 72 hours to readdress and settle the issue regarding the designation of the portfolios of the Ahthibung adhoc-Town Committie (ATC).
In this regard, the AYSU stated that, the colony-wise election of the members for the ATC was successfully conducted on August 1 but to no avail as the administration has not paid heed and attention to address the issue even to this day.
AYSU also stated that, MLA 6 Tening A/C has “verbally ordered the district administration (DC Peren) to keep on hold the formation of the ATC”. AYSU therefore questions as to why formation of an adhoc-town committee is being troubled by the MLA and further pointed out that this “unprecedented interference will only hamper the balanced environment and further create a gap between the people and the concerned authority if, not settled at the earliest”.
Stating that public seeks immediate solution and peaceful-settlement, the AYSU stressed that further ignorance will only lead to violent and untoward incident in the near future for which the concerned authority will be held solely responsible.
