Bamboo crafts workshop underway in Zunheboto

Deputy commissioner Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo visited the bamboo workshop initiated and sponsored by 32nd Assam rifles on January 18, accompanied by president Sumi Kükami Hoho and town GBs.

According to DIPR report, in a brief interaction with the trainees, DC with prior experience at Bamboo Mission and with the knowledge acquired, talked about the good quality of bamboos found in Nagaland. 

Considering the significant usages of bamboos and the world stressing more on biodegradability of commonly used materials in day to day life, the DC said that bamboo crafts could be the next big thing and would definitely be a source of livelihood for those who had the will to produce the crafts with sincerity and hard work. 

He also thanked and appreciated the Assam Rifles for providing a platform, to showcase talents, skills and developing a sense of dignity of labour, mainly to the younger generations of the district. 

President Sümi Kükami hoho, Kashito Yeptho, talking to media persons expressed satisfaction and gratitude to all those involved in the initiative. 

According to Major, 32nd Assam rifles, Rahul Choudhary, the main aim of the programme was to reach out to the youths of the district and to provide them a platform of livelihood by prefabricating the talents already gifted naturally in them. 

He also encouraged trainees to continue working hard.

The workshop which began on January 11 will conclude of 23 is being availed by a total of 51 trainees, under the instructors, Ghühevi Khuju and Henivi Aye.
