BAN denounces ‘discrimination’ of local buyers

DIMAPUR, APR 7 (NPN) | Publish Date: 4/7/2020 12:20:30 PM IST

Business Association of Nagas (BAN) has taken umbrage to alleged discrimination of local buyers at wholesale market here.

In a release, BAN said many local buyers with authorisation letters from village councils/competent authorities were being denied their share of purchases at the wholesale market here.

It alleged that the whole sellers were not willing to sell to locals on the plea that there was no stock or the size of their vehicles was small.  BAN urged the authorities concerned to ensure equitable distribution during such difficult times. Any person with valid document denied his share of purchase at the wholesale market have been requested conatct: 9436012590, 962588719 and 7005609377.

The association recalled that during a meeting held on April 3 among representatives of the State government’s special committee and various stakeholders, it was decided that buying from the wholesale market would be permitted with written permission from the administrative officer, GB and village council concerned.

If village councils and colonies of Dimapur did not get their due share at the wholesale market, the association warned that this would have a negative impact on the lockdown as people would have to fulfil their needs by venturing out to other colonies/ villages.

BAN also requested the authorities and village councils to keep a check on the price rise.
