Be Aware, Don’t Panic

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 3/18/2020 12:40:39 PM IST

Through your esteemed daily, may I have the privilege to jot down a few words in relation to the present situation the entire world is experiencing today with the spread of deadly coronavirus(COVID-19). I sincerely extend and appreciate the timely action taken by the Govt. of Nagaland under the dynamic leadership of Shri. Neiphiu Rio, the Chief Minister of Nagaland to combat the spread of Coronavirus. Along with the Govt. of Nagaland, many associate NGOs, educational institutions and general public are putting on best efforts and appropriate measures to create awareness to combat against the spread of COVID-19. With the official announcement  by the Govt. of Nagaland on the closure of all educational institutions and an indefinite blanket ban on the entry of both domestic and foreign tourists into Nagaland is a laudable step. General public of Nagaland, I believe are very much aware of such spread of deadly virus and preparing in every possible ways to protect and prevent it. However, there are issues the general public are facing like acquiring of medicinal masks, hand sanitizer from the market, which are either hardly available or being sold out at an exhorbitant rate. Hence, I appeal and request the concerned authority in the interest of the public to take note of this and see that such saftey requirements are reach out to the public with ease and at nominal rate. As we all know that this coming 2 to 3 months are going to be very crucial and further need to be very cautious to protect ourselves against the deadly virus and this is possible only if such safety requirements are easily available. I request the Govt. of Nagaland to put a strict vigilance on the circulation of fake news and initiate strict actions on them and also come up with the effective and appropriate strategies in preventing and protecting from the spread of COVID-19 and publish them in the media, which would be encouraging for the public. There is a saying – Prevention is better than cure. Let us all not panic but to practice self care as situation demands.
