Joining the ‘Bharat bandh’ called by famer unions to protest the Centre’s new farm laws, Nagaland Pradesh Kisan Congress (NPCK) organized a candle vigil at Dimapur district Congress bhavan office, Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) vice president, Jonathan Ao hit out at the PDA government for not speaking out on the issue of the farm bills. He, however, said that a revolution has begun starting from the farmers.

Jonathan was sceptical that future of India will be like that of the pre-Independent era, as corporates would be going to do the same thing which the British had done to India by forcefully buying raw materials from the farmers at cheap rates and selling the finished products at higher rates.

NPCK chairman, V Lasuh alleged that the Central government was being controlled by big corportates like Ambani and Adani.

He lamented that farmers in Nagaland were still in the dark about the farm laws and the issues faced by farmers across the country.

Short speeches were also delivered by NPCC minority cell chairman Rajesh Sethi, DCC Dimapur president, Tsenthungo Lotha and Dimapur District Congress Committee vice president Kutoho.
