The BJP’s alliance with AGP has not gone down very well not only with the common man but also the members of the AGP itself.

As voices of resentment against the alliance continue to soar, a massive rally was staged on Saturday in front of the AGP headquarters at Ambari in Guwahati opposing the ties between the AGP and BJP.

Workers gheraoed the AGP office and shouted slogans showing resentment against the regional party’s decision to contest alongside with the BJP.

Later, police and CRPF arrived at the spot to control the situation. Police also arrested AGP worker Sushil Deka for allegedly attacking the protesters including women.

Meanwhile, AGP party workers in Jorhat threw the portraits of Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and Phanibhusan Choudhury out of their office in protest against the alliance.

Also party workers from Lakhimpur have decided not to co-operate with the BJP candidate in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Lachit Bordoloi, who resigned the regional party following the announcement of alliance with BJP in the LS polls, has announced to launch another regional party in a press conference.

Similarly, former minister Girindra Kumar Baruah resigned from the executive member of party on Saturday.
