The Congress has slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for their “failure” to keep any of the assurances made during the assembly elections, reports The Northeast Now.

“The people have realized the falsehood of BJP and deserted it. The people have lost their faith on the BJP and now the ruling party is applying force to capture the panchayats,” said Tripura Pradesh Congress President Pradyot Bikram Kishore Debbarma.

Addressing a public meeting held to drum support for party candidates at Ratacherra Panchayat of Fatkroy in Dhalai District, Debbarma said that members of over forty families who were supporters of BJP, CPM and IPFT have left their party and joined Congress.

The Congress has always worked in the development of the nation and establishing democracy in the country, said the TPCC president while urging the people to preserve the democratic fabric of the country.

In the meeting, State president of the Mahila Congress Joydani Tripura, working president of the Youth Congress Pujan Biswas also was present.
