BJP politicizing issues in Mnp: CPI

Correspondent IMPHAL, Aug 11 | Publish Date: 8/11/2018 11:59:16 AM IST

CPI Manipur State Council has Saturday accused the ruling BJP of politicizing all the issues prevailing in Manipur and also of running “dictatorial governments” both at the Centre and in Manipur.

“Since BJP coming to power, democracy has been put at stake. The party is running a dictatorial government at the Centre as well as in the state (Manipur). Media have been put under its control,” former Manipur minister and CPI leader Dr M Nara Singh said. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most unethical leader in the 72 years of governance in India while asserting that it would not be an exaggeration or wrong to say that all the issues and crisis prevailing in Manipur was connected to politics.

The CPI leader was speaking at a programme in Bishnupur district as part of party’s movement against alleged unethical governance by the Modi government.

He also accused BJP of suppressing the media from writing against the BJP government at the Centre as well as in the BJP ruled states.

Dr. Nara alleged that democracy and secularism has started to get devalued since BJP government came to power.

Talking on the problems and crisis prevailing in Manipur, the CPI leader warned that the state government should bear the responsibility of the threat which has been created by the Framework Agreement signed between Centre and NSCN(I-M).

Speaking on the imbroglio in Manipur University, he accused the BJP-led government and its leaders of hectically tarnishing the true value of the protest instead of working to find a way to resolve the impasse.
