Blast rocks private company office in Imphal

Amid the tightened security measure in place after a series of bomb blast, a powerful IED rocked the office of the Bharatiya Infra Project Limited in the outskirt of capital city Monday morning.

No casualty was reported in the blast that was triggered by suspected militants at the main gate of the office cum residential quarters of the staff of the company at Langthabal under Singjamei police station of Imphal West district.

The blast was triggered around 5 am in the morning and splinters of the blast perforated the iron gate of the rented office complex.

Police suspect monetary demand from the company by a militant group behind the blast.

Police have initiated an investigation by lodging a case to establish the motive behind the blast under section 307,506 of IPC and Explosive Act of Singjamei police station

The blast at the outskirt of the capital city was at a time while police were taking up tightened security measure in the capital city and its outskirts in the aftermath of two recent blasts in the city areas that inflicted injuries to police and security forces.

As a part of the security measure, police commandos of state police have been conducting random cordon and search operations in the last few days.

During one such operation conducted at Masjid Road of Paona Bazar on Monday, around 115 individuals were verified systematically, out of whom six of them having no ID proof for verification were detained and handed over to city police station for necessary action, police said.
