With a view towards ensuring safety of highly endangered bird, Megoneisalie Nakhro of Jotsoma village, Kohima handed over a rescued female Blyth’s Tragopan to Tragopan Breeding Centre (TBC), Kohima.

A press release from TBC Kohima stated that, Nakhro reportedly got hold of the Blyth’s Tragopan, which had entered inside the village area from nearby forest on March 24. She contacted the department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on the same day and later handed it over to the department through the officer in-charge of Tragopan Breeding Centre, Kohima.

Meanwhile, the officer in-charge deputy ranger Medolezo Kire appreciated the good gesture of Megoneisalie Nakhro for not only donating the bird, but also taking right step to timely inform the concerned authority. This gesture shows that the donor has great concern for wildlife and biodiversity and thereby set a good example for others.
