Book on ‘Secret of healthy long life’ in Ao dialect released

A book titled “ Arishir Mongchen” (secret of healthy long life) authored by retired Deputy director Nursing Nagaland Meyisongla (80 years) was released by senior pastor Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA) Rev. M. Asangba Longkumer at Ura hotel Kohima on Tuesday. 

This is the second edition with 2000 copies, edited and published by Dr. Tali Imsong Ao and Dr. T. Temjen of Knowledge foundation.   

Speaking on the excerpt of the book, the author said that she was inspired to write this book as per the present context of the society, where many Naga men folk die early forcing womenfolk to live as widows.  She said the book talk about how to live longer and healthier life especially for the men folk living in the rural areas. According to her, in Naga society men folk usually live shorter life than women due to various unhealthy life style and food habits. She said this book tells about how to grow old gracefully and focus on the body changes of ageing.

Meyisongla has also authored six books, the first has been published in 1987 also in Ao dialect “Anemia Alitsii asoshi tesayuba lesson Kar (a guide book for healthy living), Grow old gracefully in 2005, plants and medicine in 2006 ( Ao dialect), medicinal plants in English 2011, Medicinal plants in Ao ( 2nd edition) 2013, secret of healthy long life in 2014 (1st edition) and Arishir Mongchen (2nd edition).

The launching programme was attended by members of Kohima Watsii telen ( Kohima Ao women organization), author’s friends and well wishers, family members, church members and others.
