Border row: AKM demands intervention of DC Mkg

DIMAPUR, NOV 23 (NPN) | Publish Date: 11/23/2020 11:39:10 AM IST

Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has demanded the immediate intervention of deputy commissioner (DC) Mokokchung in the ongoing border tension along the Assam-Nagaland border in the district.

It may be noted that the ongoing bandh on Mokokchung district imposed by various organisations since November 15 has caused tremendous dislocation of trade and commerce in Mokokchung district besides affecting nearby districts such as Longleng, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Kiphire.

Acknowledge the sincere efforts to resolve the ongoing imbroglio with the neighbouring State, AKM president Nungdokyanger Ao and assistant general secretary Nangjenkala Tzudi in a representation asserted that while extending their solidarity with Tsurangkong people of the Ao community, it was of paramount importance that not even an inch of land – whether in the south, north, west or east – was compromised.

AKM said they would continue to strive towards restoring all areas under their jurisdiction.

The student body further demanded that construction of the sanctioned building/structure should be competed at Aosenden village without further delay. It also called for removal of the temporary Assam Police post from the village immediately to avoid further tension.

While assuring its full support and co-operation in resolving the border tension through people-to-people dialogue, AKM urged the DC to immediately find an amicable solution.
