Greetings  to one and all on this auspicious occasion of 2581 Buddha Jayanti! Let me take this opportunity to wish a very  happy Buddha Jayanti  specially to all  my Buddhists brethren and generally to all! Let peace be upon earth for the herbinger of peace was born on this  day. This Buddha Purnima is very special for all the Buddhists across the world because on this day Lord Buddha was born, got enlightenment and nirvana too. After attaining enlightenment, He started preaching to the people that life is full of sufferings and sorrows and indeed  it is so. If you look at life the way Lord Buddha  had preached you would  realise that He is very  much  right  since the moment of joy and  happiness is very short lived  while the sorrows and sufferings are forever there with all of us sticking like  a shadow and  following us till we are  put to  grave though some may consider this as pessimistic view of life. However it is not so but the reality of day today life. He also showed us the way how to get rid of from this cycle of birth and death so that we are not put to face the same sufferings and sorrows time and again. For this He laid down the five fold path ie 1) not to kill (2)not to lie (3) not to steal (4) not to feel jealous of others (5) not to vie for others wives and also the  Eight Fold Path ie 1) Right thought (2) Right view (3) Right livelihood (4) Right effort (5) Right meditation (6) Right resolve (7) Right Speech and (8) Right  conduct. If we all follow these paths of Lord Buddha ( for following  His  paths, it is  not  necessary  to change  one’s  religion  for He said, if you  want to change/convert a person, convert  his/ her heart  not religion) then I am quite  sure that we will not only get freedom from the cycle of birth and death but also there will be peace everywhere and this world will also become a better place which we can leave for our future  generations. There will  be no killings of any beings (which are being witnessed by us since time immemorial including the recent ones of New Zealand and Sri Lanka) as He strongly forbade killing of any living things.

Let me sum up the philosophy of  buddhism with the following few lines in the form  of poem.

Buddhism teaches to one and all

Not to kill but to save

Not to hate but to love

Not to divide but to unite

Not to advocate hatred but  peace

Not to steal but to earn

Not to lie but  to speak  the truth
