Call for action on TB eradication by 2025

The monthly meeting of District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Longleng was held on March 6 under the chairmanship of DC, M. Shayung Phom, where various agendas were discussed. 

According to DIPR report, one of the agendas taken up was elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) in India by 2025, where medical officer District Hospital Longleng, Dr. Temsu said that TB was one of the major public health problems in the country, and therefore appealed to all the members to be a part of the elimination campaign. 

He informed the members that the government of India provided every citizen free diagnosis, free drugs and free treatment for TB in government health centres along with financial incentives for patients and treatment supporters as well. He therefore urged the members to raise awareness on TB and sensitise the people in their respective community on the facilities provided by the government for the people.

Meanwhile, while speaking at the meeting, DC extended his appreciation to the members for their financial contribution towards the bridge construction committee and reviewed the last meeting minutes.

EAC Longleng, Pichano Kikon highlighted on financial contribution made by DPDB members for assistance to the bridge construction committee over Dikhu River between Mongtikang and Salulamang.

She also briefed on surprise checking conducted by the district administration in government offices in the district headquarters on February 25, 2021. 

CMO Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla informed about the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive in the district and said that Longleng was doing well with the highest percentage in vaccination drive compared with the rest of the districts in the state.

She informed on dates and time schedule for 2nd phase vaccination for healthcare workers and on medical board for service confirmation of government employees on March 16.

CMO also informed about the tour programme of health minister, S. Pangnyu Phom in the district from March 8 to 12, 2021. In this regard, she invited HoDs to accompany the health minister who would be inaugurating health centres and other activities in the district.

Later, the board constituted the verification committee for LADP 2020-21 for 49 A/C Tamlu and 50 A/C Longleng. PWD (R&B) presented their departmental activities through PowerPoint. Earlier, president of Phom People’s Council (PPC) exhorted the members while the new members introduced themselves at the meeting.
