Campaign on legal assistance for family of prisoners

Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) launched the campaign for legal assistance to the family of prisoners on June 19 at District Jail, Phek. 

A press release from PDLSA stated that APP-cum-government pleader, District Court, Phek, Samual Ritse, stressed about the legal services authority, schemes and right of the accused persons, while Assistant Jailor, District Jail, Phek, Dozhoyi Ciikhamu, highlighted about the legal aid clinic at District Jail and urged prisoners to reform and become a responsible citizens. 
The inaugural speech for the campaign was delivered by chairperson, PDLSA, Mezivolu T Therieh, who stressed for creating awareness about rights, benefits, entitlement under various schemes and programme through the campaign. 
She further stated that as per the annual report “Prison Statistics India” 2015, published by National Crime Report Bureau (NCRB), Nagaland state has a total inmate’s population of 499, ranked at 27th position among Indian states and Union Territories.
