Can Youth host webinar on abuse

Can Youth under its project Development 4 Adolescent organised webinar session for adolescents on the topic “Abuse: physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse and digital abuse” on October 1, with Akangkokla Namo, programme officer, Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland branch and Kivitoli Chishi, board secretary of Can Youth as resource persons. 

A press release by Can Youth coordinator Development 4 Adolescent Sentiwati stated that, Kivitoli Chishi mentioned about the abuse faced by every individual and how family and society play an important role in supporting the individual who faced such situation.

Akangkokla Namo said that, every individual have the right to live free life without being abused and mentioned that physical abuse can be of any physical harm and shared about psychological abuse where a person mentality and emotional is disturbed and affected. She mentioned that verbal abuse often occurred through verbal communication using inappropriate words and expression by passing comments towards the other person. She also shared on the difference between good touch and bad touch which many were not aware of. 

Sentiwati, project coordinator, Development 4 Adolescent, Can Youth encouraged the adolescents to share their problems with whom they trust or comfortable with to avoid/prevent such abuses. Session was moderated by Suikolie, facilitator, Development 4 Adolescent, Can Youth.
