Can Youth launch youth support group

Can Youth launched youth support group on September 21 as an initiative to provide them a platform for livelihood and entrepreneurship, especially for dropouts, youths and returnees.

A press release by Can Youth, project coordinator, Faihamti Longmailai stated that while he launched the programme, general manager, district industries centre, P Tokugha Achumi stated that one should support themselves and not be dependent. He further mentioned that Nagaland was the state which had the highest rate of unemployment and that the root cause was that people tend to start big rather than starting from a scratch.  Chief functionary, Can Youth, Jenpu Rongmei said that the purpose of youth support group was to understand the meaning “dignity of labour” and empower themselves by involving in different activities through sustainability.

Earlier, the programme was attended by members of three youth support group and Can Youth officials. It may be noted that Can Youth has provided seed money supported by YI youth fellowship to three youth support group i.e. Chumukedema, Darogajan village and Aokong colony.
