Khriekesa FC emerged as the champion of the Kohima district Capt. (late) N. Kenguruse district level football tournament held at Kohima local ground on Wednesday. 
Organized by 3rd (Naga Hills) Bn Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hq IGAR (N), Khriekesa FC in the final defeated Nerhema FC 3-2 via shootout after the match ended 1-1. 
In an exciting final match, Nerhema village FC took the first lead in 12th minute, when Kekhrieletuo Tsira converted a spot kick. The spot kick was awarded after an error committed by Akuo-u Ciesotsu of Khriekesa FC. 
Nerhema village FC dominated the first session and  ended a 1-0 score. After the breather, Khriekesa FC came back strongly but wasted number of occasions in finding an equalizer. It was only in the dying minute of the final whistle Achamo rose on the occasion to score the equalizer for Khriekesa FC to take the match into extra time.  In the extra time, both teams failed to score. 
The champion team received Rs. 25,000 along with running trophy and citations, while the runners-up received Rs. 15,000. The golden boot (highest scorer) award went to four players (3 goal each) namely Petevizo Kezieo and Shurhusul Zhotso of Nerhema village FC and Vimelie Chasie and Khrieneituo Kezieo of Khriekesa FC.  Medophrezo Kezieo of Nerhema village FC was named the best goal keeper. 
The final match was graced by deputy inspector general head quarter 5 sector Assam Rifles, brigadier Sandeep Sharada as special guest. He gave away the prizes to the winners. The match was witnessed by hundreds of citizens and neighbouring villages including late Capt. N. Kenguruse’s family members and rank and file of Assam rifles.
