Cash amount Rs 49.98 Lakh seized from BG Exp; 2 held

Lumding Government Railway Police on Friday seized Rs 49, 98,000 cash from UP bound BG Express and apprehended two ladies in connection to the incident, The Sentinel report stated. As per Government Railway Police, the two ladies identified as Sumona Karmakar (name changed) and Shyamali Karmakar (name changed) residents of Koch Bihar and was heading towards Bokajan for business purposes with the cash from Dimapur in Nagaland. Government Railway Police during their patrolling duty at Lumding Railway Station recovered the amount from one General compartment at Dimapur-Guwahati BG Express. A case in connection with the recovery of money in Lumding railway station was registered vide Lumding GRPS Case No. 15/19 under section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Meanwhile, both the apprehended ladies are being forwarded to the court Friday.
