Core Committee on Rationalisation of Reservation Policy (CCoRoRP) has decided to await the state cabinet decision on implementation of its six-point proposition on reservation.

This followed a meeting held between CCoRoRP with state chief minister Neiphiu Rio on expiry of its 72-hour deadline (December 17)

CCoRoRP had issued its 72-hour ultimatum on the state government for implementing implement the six-point proposition on reservation. At the meeting Thursday with CCoRoRP the chief minister had “fundamentally agreed” to discuss the matter with his cabinet on December 18.

In this regard, CCoRoRP convenor N. Ejanthung Ngullie and secretary Zakie Khate have urged the five apex students’ body- ASU, AKM, SKK, LSU and RSU and volunteers - to stand down until the outcome of the cabinet meeting was made known.

CCoRoRP said its future course of action will be initiated based on the outcome of the cabinet meeting on Friday. While informing the public that it did not intend to be a part of the problem but sought a meaningful and rationale solution, CCoRoRP leaders said that they were capable of making “much louder noise” in the event an unfavourable situation was created. However, CCoRoRP was hopeful of avoiding such situation.

In response to CCoRoRP’s representation to the chief minister, principal secretary to CM, K.D. Vizo Thursday informed the committee that the matter will be taken up at the cabinet meeting on December 18.
