CCSA 53rd sports meet underway

The 53rd sports meet of Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA) kicked start Monday at Middle Khomi under Phek district.

K.G. Kenye, MP, Rajya Sabha who graced the opening ceremony lauded CCSA for taking sports forward and producing several prominent sportspersons in the area.

He said that the Parliament has already approved setting up of Sports University in Manipur recognising the importance of sports in the country. Kenye was optimistic that the prospect of sports in India will gain momentum through the proper functioning of this sports university.

Games and sports also bring the people closer and develop friendship through healthy competition, said Kenye. He encouraged the youth to make the best use of their talents and become an asset to the society.

Stating that there is no dearth of talented Naga youth in sports, he said one need to be sincere and give extra effort to shine at the national and international level.

Kenye also urged upon the players to maintain true sportsmanship spirit. 

CCSA president Shekhoto Khesoh in his presidential address said that in today’s competitive world, professionalism has become the only tool to succeed in any field. He appealed to sportspersons to prioritise their talent in a particular sport or the other in order to become a professional player.

The inaugural function was chaired by Secheku Wrestling Association president Vezohu Ruho. Middle Kho village council chairman Vekhotso Lohe delivered short speech while CCSA sports secretary Shepozo Lohe administered oath to the participating teams.

Altogether, 7 villages- Pholami, Porba, Sakraba, Gidemi, Upper Kho, Middle Kho and Lower Kho are taking part in the meet.
