Centre extends CF with 2 Naga groups

Government of India on Thursday extended the ceasefire agreement with GPRN/NSCN and NSCN (K) Khango for a period six months.

GPRN/NSCN through its MIP said that the yearly ceasefire agreement, which was due to expire on April 27, 2020, was extended for further six months period with effect from April 28, 2020 till October 27, 2020 with subjection to adherence to ceasefire ground rules.

MIP said that in the spirit of seriousness to maintain chain of peace in the state and modalities of resolving issues, ceasefire was mutually extended.

Meanwhile, the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland/K-Khango, which expired on April 14, 2020, was also extended for a period of six months with effect from April 16, 2020 till October 17, 2020.

In a joint statement, the CFSB chairman Lt. Gen (Retd) Shokin Chauhan and NSCN(K) Khango CFSB supervisor, Shellen Konyak and secretary Kaino Chishi stated that the ceasefire would be subject to adherence to the ceasefire ground rules mutually agreed and signed by the two sides.
