Changki Students Union holds conference and sports meet

The Fourth Changki Students Union (CSU) Conference-&-Sports Meet was launched on January 9 with an inaugural program held at Orija Salang, Changki village, on January 8. 

The theme of the event was “Rediscover our Identity”.
A press release from Changki Students Union secretary, Tenzukla Amri stated that DGP Nagaland, T John Longkumer, was the special invitee to the program where he made mention of a number of luminaries from Changki who blazed trails in Changki history. He also stated that the Changki people were able to accomplish much because of their wholehearted acceptance of Christianity and the pioneering work that Christian leaders had done. He encouraged youngsters to have dreams, to be determined and to be passionate to reach their goals.  
Dr. Tiasunep Amri, associate professor, Nagaland University encouraged the delegates to preserve the Changki identity, culture and language. 
The release added that the event will be a triennial four day event represented by student unions from Changki, Mokokchung, Dimapur, Kohima, Chümoukedima, Mangkolemba and a combined team from Nokon, Merayim, Naronikum and Longnak. 
The curtain raiser was performed by CSU, Dimapur. The four day event will also include a workshop on pottery, hymnal competition, games and sports, and a talent show.
Earlier, the invocation was offered by Medemnokchala Jamir, a welcome address was delivered by CSU president Taliwapang Pongen, words of blessings were conveyed by Changki Village Council chairman, Lendimenba Amri, followed by a song presented by CSU Mokokchung. 
The inaugural program concluded with a prayer by Changki Yimlang Baptist Church associate pastor women, Rev. Imlila Amri.
