Kohima Baptist youth fellowship (KBYF) 5-day sports festival underway

A five-day sports festival 2012 of the Kohima Baptist youth fellowship (KBYF) began Monday with the participation of around 40 Baptist churches of Kohima town on the theme “soaring high” (Isaiah 40:31).

NBCC youth secretary Vikuo Rhi, speaking as guest of honour in the opening ceremony, stressed on the importance of physical fitness to keep away health hazard and sickness.

He said physical fitness and healthy body also affected spiritual life.
NBCC youth secretary advised the youth to detest from the food that was harmful to health. Vikuo encouraged the youth members to have healthy and good relationship among them even through this sport.

He reminded the youths the NBCC sanitation drive programme and to conduct free and fair election adopted during NBCC plantinum jubilee. He also cautioned the young people not to be carried away by false teaching and prophesy but to stand firm in their faith in whatever situation they faced.

The programme was led by KBYF vice president Rovi Wazah, bible reading and prayer by Kohima Baptist pastors’ fellowship president pastor Phomlee Van, welcome address was delivered by KBYF president Victor Puccho, special song was presented by Dahil and oath taking was led by KBYF sports secretary Paman. Later, guest of honour declared KBYF sports festival 2012 open. 

Day 1 result
Football (men)
ThunderBird, Blackhawks, Cardinals, Ravens defeated Buzzards( 5-1), Golden eagles (1-0), Falcons (1-0), Seahawks (4-3) respectively. 

Volley (men)
Ospreys, Falcons, Owls, Harriers, Thunnder bird, Black hawks, Kites defeated Golden, thrashers, Mighty ducks, Blackbird, Ravens, Buzzards, Seahawks respectively.

Volley (women)
Golden eagles, Harriers, Red wings, Thunder birds, Blackhawks, Ospreys, Ravens, Cardinals defeated Sea hawks, Buzzards, Mighty duck, Owls, Thrashers, Kites, Falcons (walk over), Black bird respectively.
 
Basket Ball (men)
Blackhawks, Thrashers, Ravens, Seahawks, Buzzards, Cardinal won over Red wings( 40-21), Might ducks (walk over), Kites (30-26), Ospreys (34-20), Thujnderbird ( 19-17), Golden eagle respectively.
Day 2 (June 5) matches will start at 8 a.m.

Football (men)
Owls vs Mighty ducks, Harriers vs ospreys, Red wings vs Black bird, Kites vs Thrashers, Thunderbird vs Mighty ducks and Blackhawks vs ospreys.

Basket ball (Women)
Ospreys vs Harriers, Cardinals vs Kites, Blackhawks vs Mighty ducks, Red wings vs Thrashers, Golden eagles vs Owls, falcons vs Blackbirds, Ravens vs Sea hawks and Buzzard vs Thunderbird.

Volley (men)
Cardinals vs Red wings, Golden eagles vs Falcons, Ospreys vs Thrashers, Owls vs Harriers, Mighty ducks vs Blackbird, Thunderbird vs Kites, Ravens vs Seahawks, Buzzards vs Cardinals and Blachawks vs Red wings.

Volley (women)
Sea hawks vs Harriers, Golden eagles vs Buzzards, Red wings vs Thunderbird , Mighty ducks vs Owls, Thrashers vs kites, Blackhawks vs Ospreys, raven Cardinals and Falcons vs Black bird.
