Team members of Naga Tornadoes Friday has condemned the action of police manning Chiephobozu check gate for remaining “mute spectators” when a civilian “physically” assaulted the drivers right under their nose.
Players of Tornadoes, current leader in Nagaland Premier League were on the way to Mokokchung to play the NPL match against Sangpang SA on Saturday when the incident took place.
The team members alleged that their driver while overtaking accidently splashed water on another vehicle as it was raining before reaching Chiephobozu check gate.
However, their vehicle was stopped by the police at the check gate, and after some few minutes, the owner of the vehicle which they had overtaken arrived and assaulted their driver without any “rhyme” or “reason”, in front of the police, Tornadoes players alleged.
The players and the team officials said they would take up the matter to the higher authority after Saturday’s match.
