SBI coin distribution mela

 First ever ‘coin distribution mela’ in Nagaland was held here Saturday at SBI Old Daily Market, Dimapur organized by State Bank of India (SBI) main branch Dimapur and supported by Business Committee Dimapur (BCD).

SBI Chief Manager (main branch), Ranjan Roy said since there was lack of coins in the market, the purpose of organizing the mela was to give coins especially to pan shops. He asked businessmen to maintain circulation of coins among themselves in the market.

Rupees 5 lakh coins were distributed to the people in exchange of notes i.e. Rs. 500 coins each for one person.
Ranjan Roy Chief manager SBI, Anil Jain, BCD and GB, Old Daily Market distributed the first pack of coins to the people.

The coin was of Rs. 5, Rs. 2 and Rs. 1 denominations. BCD, Anil Jain said it was a successful programme where most of the people both buyers and sellers attended the programme. He said the area where the mela was held was selected by Ranjan Roy. He also added that if there was more demand then SBI was ready to organize more such melas in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the programme was chaired by SBI assistant general manager, Ashok Kumar Das, while vote of thanks was pronounced by T. A Paul, relationship manager, SBI main branch.
