Childline 1098 launched

An emergency 24-hour national toll-free helpline number-1098 to address issues related to children was launched on September 17 at Conference Hall, DC Complex, New Peren. 

According to DIPR report, the launching programme was graced by DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier.

Childline 1098 Peren, an initiative of collaboration organisation, Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland and Childline India Foundation (CIF), is a project of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India.

Nodal director CHILDLINE 1098 Nagaland and Governing Board Member, CIF, Subonenba Longkumer asserted that Childline 1098 aims to reach out to children, who are in need of special care and attention. The main motive of introducing the helpline was to provide services to abused children or children put into child labour, emotionally and physically disturbed children, abandoned children, missing or run-away children etc. Counseling can be made through phone calls and in Dimapur and Mokokchung, 620 phone calls have been received within a year, said Subonenba. 

He requested the churches, institutions, government and NGOs to support Childline project and urged both the government and private institutions to organise awareness programme on this.

DC Peren, SentiwapangAier, in his speech, expressed gratitude and congratulated Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland & CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) team for successfully launching the 4th Childline 1098 in the district. He encouraged the team to give their utmost importance and strive hard so that they can reach the required target.

The launching programme was moderated by counsellor, Childline 1098 Peren, Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland, Ganchuimei Gonmei while short speeches were delivered by  additional SP, Peren, Limaakum T. Jamir and District Child Protection Officer, Peren, Avika Zhimomi and vote of thanks by Centre Coordinator, Childline 1098 Peren, Rongmei Baptist Association Nagaland, Ibamsile Doson.

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
