Chubatangit wins Dr. Ambedkar award

A social worker from Nagaland, I. Chubatangit Jamir was conferred the Dr. B.R.Ambedkar National Prestigious Award at Rajendra Bhavan, New Delhi on July 11. 

The award was handed over at the programme graced by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale as the chief guest and former Lok Sabha speaker, Meira Kumar as the main speaker. 

Chubatangit was honoured with the award in recognition for his remarkable contribution to social and other literary activities related to the poor people and Dalit upliftment of the downtrodden and backward people of India, stated in a press statement issued by President of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar memorial, hospital and research centre, N.E. region, Assam, Nabin Ch. Kalita.  

This award for social understanding and upliftment of weaker section is a national award presented by the government of India in honour of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the country’s first law minister, father of Indian constitution and champion of Human Rights.
