CIH Medziphema advanced training for youths and farmers

Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC & FW, Medziphema organized four-day advanced training on food processing and value addition of horticultural crops for rural youths and farmers of Tuensang district from June 4 to 7.

A press release from CIH Medziphema stated that, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Medziphema , Thsuvisie Phoji was the special guest. He urged the trainees to take full advantage of the opportunity available to them and through such trainings reduce the post harvest losses and generate revenue through sale of processed products. 
Dr. N. K. Patle, director CIH also encouraged the trainees to learn in-depth and understand the benefits of value addition and processing of Horticultural crops. 
The participants were given hands-on training on processing of various food products by resource persons V. Kenny Rhetso (chief technical officer, KVK Dimapur) and Vinika K Aomi (post harvest technologist CIH). Training on protocol development of value added products, packaging technology and various Food Safety Laws were also given by Vinika. K. Aomi.  The trainees were also trained on marketing of their produces by resource person Prabin Das (marketing specialist CIH). Altogether, 16 participants from different villages under Tuensang district attended the training, wherein certificates were awarded to the trainees after completion of the training.
