CIHSR files FIR against fake video

Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) has clarified that a video being circulated on social media group WhatsApp was false and that a complaint had been lodged with the police regarding this.

According to a statement issued by management of the hospital, a video was being circulating in WhatsApp of a child with a very abnormal looking eye and being carried by its mother.

And a lady at the background claims that the child developed the grossly abnormal condition in its eye after eye drops were administered at CIHSR, where it was brought.

The hospital asserted that the allegation made by the lady was false.

The CIHSR management explained that the child was brought from Assam by nuns of Missionaries of Charity on August 6 and 7 to the Ophthalmology Department of CIHSR.

It claimed that the child had a cancerous tumour on the right eye, which had not been treated for a very long time.

The hospital alleged that while investigations were being done and discussions for further treatment were going on, this video was created and circulated by a third party.

“We do not know the intention behind making such a claim, but it is baseless and uninformed,” the hospital asserted.

Stating that a complaint had been lodged with the police and that it believed that the culprit and the source of this video would be found soon, the CIHSR management further appealed to the public not to be misled by the “fake video”.

Cautioning that such similar videos were likely to be generated in the future too through social media to malign individuals and organisations, the hospital urged the public to remain vigilant and responsible by not forwarding such videos.

CIHSR further hoped that the police would be very strict in tracking these videos and impose heavy penalties to deter frivolous people from creating chaos in the society.
