CII meet adopts five-point resolution

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Nagaland state council meeting was virtually held on August 4 and a five-point resolution adopted to be implemented during the year 2020-21. 

A press release by State Council & MD, Fine Windows Company chairperson, C. Merenla stated that the house resolved to conduct a series of workshops, seminars and conferences on virtual platforms on topics of economic relevance with particular reference to Nagaland in the context of changed economic ecosystem brought about by the pandemic and consequences following it. 

Secondly it resolved that that CII Nagaland state council will bring out a concept paper on Act East Policy with actionable points which will be shared with the National Council of CII, the state government and the central government. 

Members observed that the government of India enunciated Look East Policy in the early nineties, which got escalated to Look East Policy in the first tenure of the NDA government. 

However, there was no roadmap being drawn up by either the central government or the state government, nor by any agency. 

Thirdly, it resolved that state council of CII will lay primary emphasis on skill development during the current year with special focus on start-ups, assimilation of the recent returnees from various parts of the country to strengthen the state economy which will be inclusive. 

In its fourth resolution, members urged the state government to unveil the action plans and economic packages of the state level core group for economic affairs at the earliest to safeguard the entrepreneurs of the state.  

Meeting also resolved to urge the state government to announce Nagaland State Industrial Policy, which has remained under cold storage for many years and the absence of which impedes the growth of entrepreneurship and industrial development in the state.

Earlier, the members unanimously nominated Hokhuli Sema, CEO, Faith Hospital, as the new chairperson of CII Nagaland state council for 2020-21.
