FC Pochury and New Market XI reached the quarterfinals of the 25th Classic Cup at Kohima local ground, here on Wednesday.

In the first match, FC Pochury thrashed Invictus FC 7-0. FC Pochury striker Chisie Nyosou scored four goals, while Dohinil Nyosou, Atsiatho Nyuthe, Yithachu added a goal each. On the other hand, Invictus FC failed to register a single shot on target as they crushed out of the tournament with a heavy defeat.

In another encounter, New Market XI beat Kohima Bible College 2-0. New Market’s forward Kezhose Mathew brace in the first half was enough for New Market XI to enter the quarterfinal. Mathew opened the scoring for New Market in the 9th minute assisted by Mezizoto.  He went on to score his second in the 25th minute.

Despite dominance in the second half, the mud soaked ground prevented New Market from scoring more goals.

Up next, New Market will face FC Pochury in the quarterfinal on November 18.
