CMHSS, ICFAI celebrate Librarian’s Day

Christina Memorial Higher Secondary School (CMHSS) Dimapur and Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University Nagaland celebrated National Librarian’s Day.

The day is celebrated in remembrance of the father of documentation science, library and information science, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, on his birthday anniversary.
CMHSS: CMHSS Dimapur celebrated the day on August 13 at the School Auditorium wherein chief patron, DGP (retired), O Alem encouraged the students to inculcate the habit of reading books.
A press release by CMHSS stated at the programme, Bendangsenla and Yenmei of Class 6 recited “Ode to my school Library”, Elitoli of Class 6 read out a story titled, “A new World”, a short play on “benefits of reading books” was enacted by Class 9, significance of the day was presented by Suyim and Niboto of Class 12 and Wanle of Class 6 spoke on the theme, “I am a book lover”. 
The principal rewarded the best two students from class 4-12 on “Book review”. 
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and benediction by the school chaplain.
ICFAI: ICFAI University Nagaland department of library and information science with NJY Memorial Library observed the day  under the theme, “Information Access” on August 12 at ICFAI University Nagaland.
A press release by ICFAI University Nagaland stated that the morning session was conducted with a brief presentation on the importance of “National Librarian Day” and the concept behind commemorating the event by the HoD, Department of Library & Information Science.
A talk on “Open Access to information” by former head and professor, documentation research and training centre, Indian Statistical Institute Bangalore, Dr. ARD Prasad was presented on a digital platform. The second session was a Webinar with live cast interactive sessions delivered by various experts in the field on various topics.
The programme was attended by information professionals and librarians from Unity College Dimapur, Immanuel College Dimapur, Pranabananda Women’s College Dimapur, ICFAI University Nagaland besides teaching faculties and students of other Departments in the University.
