CMST held in Kma, Mkg

Community Mobilization and Sensitization Training (CMST) on role and responsibilities of SMC, RTE ACT 2009, Quality (learning outcome, pindics and others), social audit, account maintenance, record keeping and shagunotsav, mid-day meal (MDM), special training (OoSC), shaala shidi etc was conducted at AMK hall, Kohima and Mokokchung town hall respectively on June 11.

Kohima: District mission authority (DMA), Sarva Shisha Abhiyan Kohima organized CMST at AMK Hall Kohima.

State mission director, Samagra Shiksha, Kevileno Angami in her address said that CMST programme was essential so that new rules and guideline from the department were updated and grievances faced in the grass root levels were highlighted. 

She said that the government has constituted the school management committee (SMC) under Nagaland communitization of Public Institutions and Service Act, 2002 for the purpose of the right of children, so that they  get free and compulsory education. She appreciated SMC Rusoma village under Kohima district for contributing their services not only with government assistance but with their own innovative ideas for the improvement of the schools.

Associate Prof. (reader) SCERT Kohima, Thungchibemo Lotha spoke on the topic “special training (OoSC) and learning outcome” and said  special education programme was needed to streamline the out of school children (OoSC) and basic educational needs for out of school children in age group of 6-14 years. He said drop –out rate was high at all the levels in the state as well as in the country. 

The reason was due to personal factor, home factor and school factors, he added. In this regard, Lotha urged the SMC and teachers to deal wisely to reduce drop-out students.

Lotha said according to national achievement survey (NAS), the subject wise achievement of students in the state was very low. He therefore said SMC must do research on why students achievement in subjects wise was decreasing in the state.

The programme was chaired by asst. district co-ordinator DMA,SSA Kohima Thongsenlo. During the programme a video on “roles and responsibilities of SMC” (Dreamz unlimited) produced by Nagaland education mission society, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland was screened.              

SMC of Angami villages in Kohima district and Ward Education Committee (WEC) of Kohima town attended the programme.  

Mokokchung: Delivering the key note address, SDO (C), Mokokchung, Abhinav Shivam asked the gathering to be agents of transformation, saying that education was the key to transforming a society.  

He said many students were from poor families and therefore asked the those involved in educating and molding the students to consider the children as their own. 

The programme was followed by technical session. Topics on right to education with specific reference to re-constitution of SMC/WEC, account maintenance & record keeping, inclusive education were presented during the first session. During the second session, topics on midday meal, learning outcome & NAS 2017, OoSC/residential hostel and UDISE & SDMIS were presented.
