CNTC lauds PDA govt over IIRC

Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) lauded chief minister Neiphiu Rio and his government for announcing introduction of Indigenous Inhabitants Registration certificate (IIRC) in Nagaland to curb the unabated influx of illegal immigrants into the state.

In a statement through its media cell, CNTC also insisted a proper cut-off year while issuing IIRC, so that genuine indigenous inhabitants were not harassed. “Though the issue of illegal immigrants is very serious, we have failed to understand the threat and its implications in the past and have been unable to take any concrete steps in preventing and safeguarding our coming generations from this onslaught despite many special provisions granted to us,” it said.
CNTC said it was truly appreciable that the government with its wisdom and vision for posterity had finally understood the ramifications and consequences of unabated influx of illegal immigrants have on “our small fragile population”. Hoping that this would help in controlling the unabated influx into Nagaland, CNTC said it expected the State government to truly implement IIRC in letter and spirit.
