Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has lauded the Public Action Committee (PAC)’s fight against multiple taxations by both state agencies and Naga political groups, which it said has greatly burdened the public as multiple taxations has only led to an escalation of the prices of every essential commodity in the market. CNTC through its media cell has appealed to both state government and all the Naga political groups to heed the cries of the public as multiple taxations have become unbearable. According to CNTC, the situation has now arrived at such a stage where the public had to come out in the streets and stand at the entry gates to fight against such excessiveness. Due to the absence of a price regulatory body in Dimapur, CNTC said “every unscrupulous trader” was taking advantage of the common people. “In all such corrupt and malpractices and indifference by authorities concerned, the public are always at the receiving end,” CNTC said. In this regard, CNTC has demanded the district administration and the DMC to display the prices of every essential item at market places. It also urged the responsible department to conduct proper checking of scales of weight and measures.
