With government of India (GoI) set to resolve the Naga issue by October 31, the Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has called for a 20 hour Manipur shutdown starting October 31 from 4 a.m. to protest any kind of move by the Centre that may infringe upon Manipur’s territorial integrity in the event a final agreement is signed between Naga groups and GoI.

Announcing this at a press conference, COCOMI co-ordinator Sunil Karam called upon the people to come out to the streets and protest against any move that may affect Manipur’s territorial integrity.

While cautioning the people to not indulge in any kind of violence during the protest, COCOMI clarified that the protest was not against any community but against the government of India.  After the conclusion of the 20-hour shutdown, Karam said the decision of the people would be made known regarding maintaining political relationship between Manipur and India.
