CoDAMP initiates programme for women drug users

Konyak Union’s Committee on Drug Abuse, Mitigation and Prevention (CoDAMP) initiated a programme for women drug users in Mon under the name “Monghüm” which translates as “Hope” in Konyak dialect on March 12. 

A press release from CoDAMP Mon convenor, Dr. Chenjei Konyak stated that, resource person for the programme was Rev. Dr. Ellen Konyak Jamir, associate professor of Pastoral Counselling & Psychotherapy, Oriental Theological Seminary, Dimapur. Programme was held at Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) conference hall Mon and was co-sponsored by Beti Bachao Beti Padhao district task force. The intensive counselling session was attended by 12 women.  

Project “Monghüm” will attempt to re-integrate the women mentally, spiritually and economically into the society. This project has been conceptualized to help women drug users, in line with the Konyak civil societies’ declaration of “War on drugs”. “War on drugs” has become a community movement spearheaded by the CoDAMP appointed by the apex civil organizations of Mon district.
