Community mobilization and training for SMC, SMDC

Under the aegis of the Sharva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Nagaland, a community mobilization and training programme of School Management Committee (SMC) and School Management & Development Committee (SMDC) was held at Educational Blocks & Resource Centre (EBRC) at Shamator and Noklak on May 30 and 31 respectively.

A press statement by DMA SSA Tuensang stated that, staff from the District Mission Authority (DMA) Sharva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and State Mission Authority (DMA) Sharva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) were the resource persons.
Community leaders were sensitized and trained with various topics including roles and responsibilities of SMC, SMDC, account record keeping and maintenance, inclusive education, Right to Education (RTE), Out of School Children (OoSC) etc.
At the EBRC Noklak, EAC Hq Yitachu Thurr challenged the community leaders to come forward and revive the education system for the future of their children. He further stressed on the absence of teachers in schools and advised the SMC members to be vigilant on such malpractices.
Sub-inspector of school (SIS), Noklak appraised the training on mobile apps monitoring of teacher attendance and shared the problems of poor performance of government schools. SIS further said shortage of Math and Science teachers was the reason for poor HSLC results.
The remaining EBRCs like Hakushang, Noksen and Longkhim will be conducted on June 4, 10 and 11 respectively.
