Cong asks PDA govt to deliver on promise

DIMAPUR, JUL 18 (NPN) | Publish Date: 7/19/2018 12:02:02 AM IST
Reminding the PDA government of its election manifesto that promised “change is coming”, Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) Wednesday demanded that the government live up to the expectations of the people who voted them to the power and fulfil the election manifesto.
Pointing out that what was promised and the present scenario was quite the opposite, DDCC president, Bendang, said the condition of roads and bridges was worse. He said most of the bridges have either collapsed or were on the verge of collapsing. Bendang also said that roads connecting to various districts and sub-divisions were also in a very pathetic condition. He said some roads that were constructed could not face the monsoon and have already been washed away.  DDCC said people were facing the worst nightmare in the absence of proper bridges and narrow roads. Congress stated that only potholes were being filled instead of proper road construction.
When new government comes, DDCC said people expect development in the form of proper roads and bridges, sanitation, educational institutes, new jobs, set up of new industries etc. However, Congress said it was quite strange that the people in Nagaland were still quiet and lacked the spine to raise their voices.
Citing an example, DDCC said development in neighbouring states has reached new heights. “Even a bordering state like Arunachal Pradesh has also left behind Nagaland in terms of development,” said Bendang.
