Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who was one of the signatories to the letter of “dissident”, has said that the party is at the “historic low” and will continue to sit in the opposition for the “next 50 years” if elections to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and key organisational posts are not held.

Prospects of the party would be better if an elected body leads the party, otherwise “Congress will continue to sit in the Opposition for the next 50 years,” Azad said.

“If my party wants to be in opposition for the next 50 years, then there is no need for elections within the party,” Azad, who is the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha said.
