Contributions toward combating COVID-19

Churches, individuals and other social organisations have contributed towards COVID-19 fund and also to the quarantine centres with Bibles, gift packages and other essentials. 

BSI distributes Bibles:  Bible Society of India (BSI), Dimapur Auxiliary has distributed 207 copies of Good News Bible to a few quarantine centres at Dimapur on May 27. A press release from BSI Dimapur auxiliary secretary, Rev. Dr. Yiepetso Wezah stated that, the Bibles were distributed to those in need of comfort at the quarantine centres. Bibles were donated by Opang Paron, Ruksin Baptist Church, Arunachal Pradesh to the BSI to be given to people in need at quarantine centres. The staff of BSI has therefore handed over these Bibles to in-charges of quarantine centers. 

NBCC team reach out to quarantine centres: Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) has donated gift packages to the two quarantine centres in Dimapur led by Rev. Andrew Semp on Wednesday. Around 90 packages were given to the Oriental Theological Seminary, Bade Dimapur and 30 to the Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. The NBCC team handed over the gift packages to both the centres with a prayer with in-charges as well as medical team. NBCC team leader Rev. Andrew Semp, secretary, Nagaland Missions Movement encouraged the inmates through loud speaker to stay strong and trust in the Lord. Team also handed over few cash to both the institutions which are directly under the NBCC projects. 

Donations to Nagaland House, New Delhi: Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Tokheho Yepthomi, donated a sum of Rs. 5,00,000/- (five lakhs only), while Dr. Longai Phom & wife Dr. Anungla Phom donated Rs.50,000/- (fifty thousand only) to Nagaland House Emergency Center Delhi, for providing rations and other emergency help to the stranded persons in Delhi and NCR areas. A press release from Nagaland House, PRO (IPR) Kuolie Mere stated that the emergency center has provided rations to around 2100 persons and also monetary support to as many as 50 patients. 

KBPF relief activities: Kohima Baptist Pastors' Fellowship (KBPF) took up relief activities in collaboration with the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) in the wake of the worldwide COVID-I9 nationwide lockdown. A press release by KBPF president Dr. Kevichalie Metha and general secretary, Rev. Vezopa Rhakho stated that, the first phase of relief (food commodities) to hundreds of individuals and families in need has been carried out successfully. It further appealed to the church to give any possible help as and when services were required and also extend full cooperation with regard to the lockdown directives issued by the state authorities for the safety of all. KBPF also assured its constant prayer support for all the administration, health workers, police, the NSDMA, and the municipal authorities, and all others who are battling at the forefront. 

KABC donates to quarantine centres: Kohima Ao Baptist Church (KABC) under the ministry, “Welcome home beloved Nagas, Kohima Ao Baptist Church COVID-19” contributed a sum of Rs. 11, 00, 000 (eleven lakhs) (One lakh each for all the eleven districts of Nagaland) specifically towards the district quarantine centre management. 

NEIDA distributes hand sanitisers: Tata Chemicals Ltd., through the Tata Trusts had donated 3,000 liters of hand sanitisers to the North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA). A press release from NEIDA programme coordinator, Sentimongla Kechuchar stated that, NEIDA distributed the same to district administrations of Tuensang, Phek, Kiphire and Pungro block administration. The sanitisers are also being distributed to 108 village councils in Tuensang, Phek and Kiphire for use by the village volunteers and health workers.
