Day-two of the convention of Chakhesang Catholic Association (CCA) and Chakhesang Catholic Women Association (CCWA) coinciding with the golden jubilee of the Sacred Heart Church, Chizami was graced by Rev. Dr. Fr. Philip Abraham as celebrant and Rev. deacon Dr. Sherman Kuek, OFS and Rev. Fr. Vemudo Joseph Kezo, director, St Joseph College Boys Hostel, Jakhama as speakers on January 11.

A press release from CCA stated that, Rev. Dr. Fr. Philip Abraham in his sermon said “There is a moral deficit in Nagaland, it is so difficult for us when we are singled down by various central organisations to show that our state lacks accountability in public morality.” He added that “this is of great concern because in our country we are seen as Christian state and real Christian life is not shining well in our land.” He encouraged the CCA and CCWA to point out to the people to live and witness the true life of Jesus.

In the first and third sessions, Rev. deacon Dr. Sherman Kuek spoke to the congregation through his interesting life experiences stating that jubilee was a very Biblical concept with a strong spiritual implication, calling to forgive and have mercy. In the next session, the speaker said that “we are all called to be the prophets by daring to speak the truth, a priest by living a prayerful life and a king by humility and service to mankind.”

In the second session, Rev. Fr. Vemudo Joseph Kezo, director, St Joseph College Boys Hostel, Jakhama spoke on “Catholic tradition and practices”. He elaborated on how the sacraments are an opportunity to make right with God.

Meanwhile, CCWA installed the new office bearers for the tenure 2020-2022 with Lhiwete-u (Atele) Rume from Holy Family Parish, Pfutsero as president, Vekurilu Clare from St Andrew’s Parish Thenyizumi as general secretary along with seven others.
