A two-day program on counselling skills for Good Shepherd seminarians in Dimapur concluded with a recollection of “Call to Holiness” on November 8.

A press release from the office of St. Joseph College Jakhama stated that counsellor of St. Joseph’s College Jakhama, Rev. Fr. C. Joseph, conducted the program on counselling skills for the seminarians of Good Shepherd Seminary followed by a day of recollection. He explained that listening was one of the skills of counselling. On types of listening, he said there were casual, focused, active, passive, critical, evaluative, appreciative, pretentive, empathetic, therapeutic, selective, biased, and assertive, types of listening. Hearing is a physiological function, Rev. Fr. Joseph stated adding that listening is a psychological activity, and the two are completely different. Speaking on call to Holiness, the speaker reminded the participants about the great invitation in the Bible to Holiness.
Joseph said that God calls them to be holy, speaking from the Biblical verses 1 Peter 1:15-16, 1 Thessalonians 4:3, Hebrews 12:14, Ephesians 5:25-27.
