COVID-19 deaths rise to 1,152 in India

The death toll due to the novel coronavirus rose to 1,152 with 77 fatalities reported since Thursday evening, while the number of cases saw a record jump of 1,755 to go up to 35,365 cases on Friday, according to the Union health ministry.

The number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 25,148 while 9,064 people have recovered, and one patient has migrated, the ministry said.

“Thus, around 25.63 per cent patients have recovered so far,” a health ministry official said.

The total number of cases include 111 foreign nationals.

A total of 77 deaths were reported since Thursday evening of which 27 fatalities were reported from Maharashtra, 17 from Gujarat, 11 from West Bengal, seven each from MP and Rajasthan, three from Delhi, two from Andhra Pradesh and UP and one from Karnataka.

Maharashtra on Friday saw a record single-day increase of 1,008 in the number of coronavirus patients, which took the tally of cases in the state to 11,506.

Over 2.3 lakhs dead world-wide: Globally, the novel coronavirus cases have surged past 3.3 million with over 234,000 deaths. 

Number of infected people due to Covid-19 in the US crossed one million and fatalities rose past 63,000.

Nagaland: Results of 14 awaited

DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (NPN): State principal secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha Friday informed that the state was awaiting the result of 14 samples of suspected COVID-19 case. So far, a total of 664 samples were sent for testing from the State and the results of 650 samples received had all tested negative. 
As on May 1, 1776 persons have been screened and 29 persons were presently under facility quarantine.
