COVID-19 vaccination drive in Kiphire, Longleng, Medziphema

COVID-19 vaccination drive was launched at Kiphire, Longleng and Medziphema on January 18 respectively. 

Kiphire: COVID-19 vaccination drive at District Hospital Kiphire (DHK) was launched by DC Kiphre, Ajit Kumar Ranjan. 
A press release by CMO office district media officer, Haichikambe Pame stated that, DC in his inaugural speech said that the coming of COVID-19 vaccine to Kiphire was welcome news for everyone. He said people have become complacent and that the fear of COVID-19 has gone down leading to many people not ready to take the vaccine. DC emphasised on dissemination of proper information to the general public regarding the vaccination and urged the media personnel, civil society organisations, and church leaders to sensitise the public.
Medical superintendent of DHK, Dr. Bendangsenla Ao, and the district programme officer (RCH/UIP), Dr. K. Pewezo Khalo also spoke at the programme.
Dr. Apise, secretary, USBLA pronounced the invocation while vote of thanks was proposed by district programme manager (NHM), Limawati Sangtam.
Altogether, 24 beneficiaries from Kiphire sadar were vaccinated on the first day, during which Dr. Bendangsenla Ao, MS, DHK, was the first to be vaccinated. 
Longleng: Covid vaccination for the health workers of Longleng district was held in four session sites, namely, District Hospital, Tamlu PHC, Yongnyah PHC and Yachem PHC. 
A press release by CMO office district media officer, Roseline stated that, a short dedicatory programme was held at the hospital premises in the presence of Throngdiba Sangtam SDO, Dr Yannick CHVO (WHO), MS, CMO, DIO and other officials. Dr Imnameren Phom DPO (RCH/UIP) welcomed all the beneficiaries, vaccinator officer and vaccination officers. Throngdiba Sangtam congratulated all the healthcare workers, for arranging the session sites successfully. Medical superintendent Dr Lhouvizotuo Belho appealed to all the staffs to come forward and avail the vaccine and appealed to all to help in spreading awareness about the advantages of the vaccine. MS declared the vaccination session site open and dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Ajong, nursing in-charge District Hospital. 
Senior medical officers from District Hospital came forward and received the first vaccination and were kept in the observation room for 30 minutes, with no report of adverse event or untoward incident. Out of 104 beneficiaries target planned for the district, 87 beneficiaries availed the vaccine. Deputy commissioner & chairman DTF, M Shayung Phom, accompanied by ADC D. Robin Zeliang, additional SP Atopu Sumi and SDO Throngdiba Sangtam visited the session sites and interacted with the vaccination team, and beneficiaries.  
Medziphema: SMO Dr. Nosezol Sezo launched the vaccination drive at Community Health Center (CHC) Medziphema on January 18, in the presence of ADC Thuvisie Phoji, SDO (C) Tokai Sumi, HCMC chairman, Rev Terhujah, government officials and health workers.
According to DIPR report, altogether 26 beneficiaries were registered for the first vaccination drive. SMO Dr. Nosezol Sezo was the first to be vaccinated. Vaccination programme was held in one session at CHC, where different terms were divided into 3 rooms, the waiting rooms, the vaccination room and the observation room where beneficiaries were kept for 30 minutes, all assisted by vaccination officers. ADC Medziphema also briefed on why people should be vaccinated and safe from the virus. He also requested all to be responsible for giving accurate information to the public about COVID vaccine. HCMC chairman also expressed and appreciated all the front liners.
